Am encouraged that great progress are being made and that one way or the other the conflicting seperate views between the Hargeisa and Mogadiscio Govts would be settled with the full Technical impartial supports of Britain and the other allied IC partners. Hopefully the Wash DC official trip this week of President Silaanyo and his team delegation for discussions with the Obama Administration would be more fruitful and resourceful to give the green light for the full recognition of Somaliland Independent Sovereignty it so deserves.Cheers. Ngonyo wa Mwavou 2013-04-18 21:19: There is no need for the defenders of Somaliland to stoop low and use divisive tactic, please shun ethicizing the debates, the country belongs to all who support it especially those within the borders demarcated by the British. Somaliland does not need to be defended it’s a shining example of democracy in the Horn and East Africa region as a whole. Somaliland has proven that Africans can (without interference from outside) come together and build a nation. The Somaliland people have built their institution ground up and unlike Somalia where intervention from East African countries and the international community have imposed a selected few as the “leaders” of the Somali people. A Swahili saying aptly describes the two “Kizuri chajiuza kibaya chajitembeza”. Roughly translates as a good thing sells itself a bad one advertises itself. Somaliland does not have to convince anyone about its peace and progress “the proof of the pudding is in the eating” Somaliland has been around for over 20 years, while Somalia has been synonymous to failure and chaos. It is even un-Islamic to choose chaos than stability. As the saying goes it’s better to live under tyranny for hundreds of years then live in chaos for one day. How is that would make Somaliland look in the future for it’s long waiting quest?.I am not saying let us staying home either . What I am saying is Mr ,Silanyo is walking very find line. The president of Somaliland of course, that should tell you guys the weight and importance of Somaliland, Somaliland boycotted the 7th May London conference and all Mr Cameron can ask the president is if he could change his mind because it puts Britain in an uncomfortable position to host a conference on Somalia without Somaliland. The question Mr Silanyo will be asking Mr Cameron is: What is in it for Somaliland? and that is where Somalilanders need a satisfactory answer. Now can anybody tell me What is in this conference for Somaliland? There are already other talks going on between Somaliland and Somalia. or Is the UK in competition with Turkey to be more influential on Somali affairs.
