Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said “Turkey has completed the first phase of its aids to Somalia and the second phase in this country is the provision of a new structure that will make Somalia stand on her own feet. “

Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said at a press conference on Turkish aids to Somalia that Turkey is in Somalia only for humanitarian and conscientious reasons and to become a remedy to people’s helplessness.

Bozdag criticized the skepticism of some circles about Turkish presence in Somalia and went on to say “Somali authorities evaluated Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to this country two years ago as the best thing that had ever happened to Somalia within the past 20 years and it was a new beginning for them.”

Bozdag said “Nobody dies of famine, thirst or lack of medical care in Somalia anymore. Turkey has completed the first phase of its aids to Somalia and the second phase in this country is the provision of a new structure that will make Somalia stand on her own feet. “

Speaking before a group of news reporters and cameras, Deputy Prime Minister Bozdag revealed the total amount of financial aids collected in Turkey for Somalia as 506.9 million Turkish Liras.

On the Turkish Embassy attack held recently in Somalia, Bozdag said the outer security of the embassy is provided by Somali security forces and 5 armored vehicles were sent to this country upon requirement, adding that a crew of specialist criminologists was also sent and their findings will be shared with Turkish public on their return.
