Real Madrid sign Man City midfielder Brahim Diaz

Diaz scored two goals against Fulham in the Carabao Cup in November

Spanish teenager Brahim Diaz has signed for Real Madrid from Manchester City on a six-and-a-half-year contract.

The 19-year-old midfielder joined City from Malaga aged 14 in 2013 and made 15 first-team appearances, but has played only four times this season.

The Spain Under-21 international’s most recent outing came in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at Leicester last month.

Real, who lost 2-0 at home to Real Sociedad on Sunday and are fifth in La Liga, are understood to have paid £15m.

Diaz, who will have a medical on Monday and be presented to the media at the Bernabeu, has signed a contract until June 2025.

The deal, which includes a further £6.5m in add-ons, also features a 15% sell-on fee but it is understood that figure would rise to 40% should Real sell him to Manchester United.

Diaz came to prominence during the 2017 Uefa Under-17 Championships in Azerbaijan when he scored three times for Spain, who finished runners-up to Portugal after beating England in the quarter-finals.

By that time, he had already been part of City squads that lost the 2016 and 2017 FA Youth Cup finals to Chelsea and made his first senior appearance in September 2016.
