Somaliland : Dararweyne military academy re-opened (+Photos)

 Somaliland president spearheaded today the ribbon cutting of the refurbished military facility in Dararweyne , the local press have reported.The academy which has been in operation since the early seventies was refurbished and given a face-lift to accommodate more military personnel and cadets. The academy which is located in Daraweyne 18 kilometers north east of Hargeisa is among few military training facilities in the country . Another of its kind located just south of Sheikh town in Sahil region is not currently in operation but has been among the largest military training facilities in former Somalia in the 1970s.

Somaliland seceded from Somalia in 1991 but is not yet recognised by any country . The country has since had two presidential elections , one parliamentary election and three local (Municipality )  elections . It has its own currency , flag ,army and police force.
