Raheem Sterling, Georgia Stanway and Steph Houghton all picked up awards at this evening’s PFA ceremony.
Sterling picked up the men’s PFA Young Player of the Year award, while Stanway won the women’s equivalent.
And Houghton was handed the Merit Award for her services to the game.
Following his superb 2018/19 campaign, Raheem overcame competition from team-mate Bernardo Silva, along with Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Declan Rice (West Ham) and Bournemouth’s David Brooks to land the prestigious award that is voted for by fellow professional players.
Sterling becomes the second successive City player to win the prestigious Young Player award, following in the footsteps of team-mate Leroy Sane who was awarded the prize 12 months ago.
The England international has been one of the stand-out performers in what is shaping up to be another remarkable season for City, scoring 23 goals as well as producing 17 assists in all competitions for the Club.
That formidable form has been one of the key factors in City’s scintillating campaign, with the Club having already won the Carabao Cup and also in contention for what would be an historic English treble.
Stanway, 20, has scored 15 goals in 30 appearances this term and has been key to City finishing as runners-up in the WSL, winning the Continental Cup and reaching the FA Cup final.
She beat teammate Keira Walsh, Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert, West Ham striker Alisha Lehmann, Bristol City goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley and Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema to the award.
Stanway signed a new three-year deal with City last month as reward for her superb form and is an England regular.
Houghton is the England captain and will lead the Lionesses at this summer’s World Cup. In November, she earned her 100th international cap and has won every domestic trophy during her time at City.
