FIFA U17 World Cup winner Kelechi Iheanacho is set to sign for Manchester City.

17-year-old Iheanacho is reported to have been given permission to leave the senior Nigeria squad to continue talks with the Citizens.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi said: ”I have told the young man (Iheanacho) to go and do the nation proud at whichever club he finally chooses to settle down with,”

The Super Eagles are currently preparing for the African Cup of Nations, hosted by South Africa this year.

Iheanacho was awarded the Golden Ball at November’s U17 World Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates after scoring six goals to help the Nigerians lift the trophy.

Reports indicated Arsenal were keeping tabs on Iheanacho while he was playing at the tournament after he scored four goals in their opening match win against eventual fellow finalists Mexico.
