Somaliland regional Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Omar is visiting Kenya to strengthen bilateral ties. “Partly, I am here to learn from Kenya’s economic development model,” he said, highlighting Kenyan successes in attracting international investors.

Somaliland plans to apply soon to the African Union for recognition of its independence from Somalia. Although Somaliland declared its independence from Somalia in 1991, the international community has not recognised it as a separate entity from Somalia.
