Recently I have visited to Somaliland Republic on December this year to participate some activities planned to come about in the country including Kulmiye Party conference and so many other significant meetings that have been on my personal schedule politically and socially, in order to strengthen fully the appropriate communications and ties to the different social parties of Somaliland society, whether the governmental very high profile figures or the civil society of the country quite strongly to normalize and perfectly restore for that role more often, by renewing with constant updates and connections in places to facilitate potentially the politics and importantly social networks that might be the key possibilities bringing for the proper changes and victories of human developments towards politically, socially and economically quite importantly often.
Professor Ahmed Ismail Samatar who have had very long history of Somaliland denial of being sovereign country since this nation proclaimed to regain once again the independence of 26 June 1960 and joined to the Southern Somali republic of former Italian colony for the means of seeking one powerful Somali nation that amalgamates and brings together NFD, Somalis in Ethiopia, known as Zone five of Ethiopia, Djabouti french Somaliland and the two republics of South and North of former British Protectorate gained independence in 26 June 1960 from Britain and the Southern Somalia of Italian colony that today have commenced very political dialogues related to that former marriage divorce between the two countries for the registration and proposal of Somaliland population vital determination of ninety seven per cent voted for breaking away from Southern Republic of Somalia or an other words chosen for the original position of Somaliland, for the result of severe maltreatments and political atrocities oppressed Somaliland populations with unfair discriminations and conflicts, unfortunately resulted unimaginable and catastrophic loss of lives, properties, unnecessary imprisonments and genocides that often have painful flashbacks repeatedly and no vanished reminder of cruelty with no mercy suffering in with certain period of time, that secretively have concealed plans of executing the army officers, wealth people and all intellectuals and elites from the Somaliland people, which at the end ignited or created with huge uprisings and social solutions of self defence for the reason of desperate survival of ethnic carnages eradicating completely the dwellers of the Somaliland geographical area known Somaliland today that he who turns blind eyes to is unrealistic and far away for humanity and self conscience.
However, professor Ahmed Ismail Samatar who was born in Gabiley District of Somaliland and educated there in his earlier life time for that residence shares family ties to my Dad ,Ali Hassan who similarly is the son of Reer Dalal of Gabiley, as professor Ahmed Ismail Samatar is that make them to be cousins of maternal relations of reasonable respect to their Uncles and their undeniable historic backgrounds that often deserve considerable and enormous dignity and honour in the first place whatever happens and any situations of politically motivated campaigns frequently occurs in different occosions sometimes.
The professor Ahmed who has been known advocating machine quite long time for the union of somaliland and Somalia suddenly changed his tone of political opinion for that issues after been humiliated shamefully, when he attempted to run Somali Republic president with the current president of Somalia and so many other candidates where he disappointedly earned only eight votes from the Somali parliament who legally had the full authority and power to elect the right candidate for the presidential office of Somalia. Nevertheless, the parliament of Somalia preferred Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud to be the right person of that position, while Ali Khalif Galaydh and Professor Ahmed Ismail Samatar suffered unexpected blows and shameful messages of implying not fit or not competent of filling that role and the leadership of Somali republic nation and negativity of eligibility for the role.
Professor Ahmed Ismail Samatar has been recently building his political profile and was busy to meet Somaliland different populations sectors especially students of Somaliland Universities that he has been meeting and addressing quite frequently, members of the government and the whole society. But, some people believe in that the professor is on research that is meant to figure out properly and clearly how far Somaliland populations, especially the youth stick to the principle of Somaliland independence, on the other hand he was selling himself and denoting both Somali speaking people and international communities his personal influence in the society. While, he also seeks a political platform to revenge for those politically defeated him in Somalia without single respect of his long political volunteering of great Somalia born again and fully noticeable rejection and ignoring against the Somaliland sovereignty where he shares flesh and blood, as being the son of Gabiley mother of Reer Dalal is often counted courageously in self assessment to restrain from many things towards your family and uncles.
However, I was members invited for a lunch on 06/01/2013 in capital city of Somaliland with the respect of Professor Ahmed Ismail Samatar on that specific day. Although, I did not attend for that lunch and withdrawn that invitation in advance by delivering my apology earliar time that I was unable to attend that lunch occasion together with many very important figures of Somaliland due to an other lunch invitation from the head of the Kulmiye Party in Lake Asal opposite of Guuleed Hotel.
I later on joined meeting of chewing kat session that has been held Gar-gaar House that situates Hargeisa, the village of Jigjigga yar, where is used as social club and political centre of networking owned by a large number of colleagues consisting of both those in the country and also many others that live in abroad. Even though, I did not chew kat on that day.
The team set on their own agenda to deal with the meeting and its process or continuity that totally cancelled any questions to the professor. But, I have clearly mentioned one day before this meeting that I would be asking the professor one single question of his current position of politics, even though some colleagues fiercely opposed my polite and respectful request, I decisively planned to ask that question to the professor and strongly insisted for it.
When I came little late on that day and get into the house while the professor addressing the team, I very and immediately took a position more suitably opposite the professor and had very better view. The professor who is a teacher who has already used his tactics or technical method to control the hall and audience, and on my arrival there were more admirations and claps of responses from the audience. There were too much praise and boasting from the professor showering himself that he is great man, while he was despising and denouncing the individuals of Somali political leading figures stating that in case of dialogue with them, that he will destroy them for the first three or four hours, as they do not have very fundamental argument for the role at all.
When the professor finished his speech, I abruptly raise my hand and announced that I have one question for the professor related directly to his current activities. Unfortunately, I was denied to take that opportunity by my colleagues. But, I suddenly stand up and uttered, there is no freedom of speech which makes very sensible meaning to the professor and hastened the permission to take that political shot in state of respect and maturity.
My question was, mr professor will you ever go back to your former principle of union or Somaliweyn?
Unfortunately, the professor diplomatically answered my question with unsatisfied manner which did not give very cut clear answer and also added his speech that he will never give up of being Somali in his whole life. I have also quoted an other response of such question that he was asked earlier times while he was in Mansoor Hotel in Hargeisa.
What ever political opinion the professor holds, his true colour will be seen in the future time, but he is on a mission now that builds his political stage and also intend to treat the former wounds and mistakes made. For sure, the professor reads a lot of books and applies the method that does not work here in Africa or Somaliland. That circumstance put him the box of being of fresh student of Somaliland politics and the characteristics to organize or connects the society in order to achieve the political destination or become very successful politician who simply wins the hearts and minds of the society.
Conclusively, many smart and born politicians follow up the movements of the professor and clearly review any thing he does, it looks that professor wants to get the driving seat of Somaliland politics and the chances to face the somali negotiators by including the delegates in accordance with his final interview taken by Faisal Fadh-fadhle of Universal TV, he is also very interested in to have big role for Somaliland foreign political role where he lives recently. Anyway, the history is written by itself so the unclear position of Professor Ahmed Ismail Samatar will be revealed sooner or later. I do respect him very highly, but my political analysis is my own rights with cautious steps.
emotional evaluation frequently makes silly errors that derail the fundamental objectives set to accomplish with reputation and sufficient knowledge of the field of your profession, but, that lack of skills and experience will risk the whole matter. However, Somaliland must be realistic to carry out true process based on the truth and knowledge, simply the ignorance is the enemy of the national interest where juniors and inexperienced result huge political mistakes that hinder the whole procedure of the people and country together.
