LIVE: Manchester City vs Barcelona – all the latest Champions League last 16 action as it happens

Follow Sportsmail’s coverage of the Champions League as Manchester City host Barcelona in the first leg of their last 16 clash at the Etihad Stadium.

It’s the first time City have ever progressed beyond the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition and they face tough opposition in the Spanish champions.

Barcelona are currently joint top of the Spanish top flight and as one of the pre-tournament favourites will aim to take a first leg advantage back to the Nou Camp to put them in the driving seat of the tie.

Good evening to Sportsmail’s Chris Wheeler at the Etihad Stadium

‘While we’re digesting that interesting team news, the Spanish journalists are downstairs digesting paella courtesy of their English hosts – a bit like feeding us all fish and chips at the Nou Camp.

‘There are four times as many journalists here than usual, which is hardly surprising given the scale of the occasion.

‘There was some debate over who would play alongside David Silva in midfield beforehand – Nasri, Jovetic, Navas? No-one came up with Kolarov. It will be fascinating to see how that one plays out.’

Calm before the storm in the City dressing room…

It’s certainly a lot more colourful than the match programme cover inside the Manchester City dressing room, much in part to the modern footwear the players have (bring back black football boots!)
