With Somalia still recognized a ‘dangerous zone’ for journalists, another media staffer Mohamed Omar Mohamed has been shot dead in Mogadishu’s main Bakara market late on Monday.

The Radio Dalsan marketing staffer was shot six times in the neck and in the chest and as a result died on the spot, according to eyewitnesses. The killers then escaped.

The slain media worker was recently recruited by the local station as a marketing department staffer.

He was an activist in local youth group and it wasn’t immediately clear whether his assassination related to his youth activities or the media work he was doing.

Somalia was still top on the list of countries recognised as ‘dangerous’ places for journalists to work in the world.
