Former prime minister arrives at Mogadishu amid coastline tension published on May 19, 2014 by

The former prime minister of Somalia, Dr. Omar Abdirashiid Ali Sharmarke arrived at Mogadishu after departing Nairobi where he was for the last few years.

Mr. Omar and other members of his political colleagues like Abdirahman Abdishakuur Warsame were spotted enjoying their evening at Hotel Diplomacy in Mogadishu.

The two gentlemen are co accused of the Somali coastline selling scandal and their visit comes at a time when a draft is to be taken to the parliament that focuses reviewing the structure of the Somali coastline.

Yesterday’s agenda that was introduced in the parliament was added the debating of the coastline reviewing issue  which was turned down by the members of the house who argued that such a topic should not be introduced within the house in the near future.

Hon. Mohamed Abdi Yussuf who is one of the federal members of parliament said that they will not accept the reviewing of the Somali  coastlines or the restructuring of it.

The member added that the structure of the Somali coastline will remain the way it is since it was reviewed in 1982 when then central government of Somali reviewed its coastline.

Hon. Abdalla Boss Ahmed who is also another member of the Somali parliament warned against any intention of changing the current structure of the Somali coastline.

The Kenyan government and the Norwegian government are accused of financing and pushing for the restructuring of the Somali coastline that will allow Kenya to possess some part of the current Somali coastline to enable the Kenyan government to enter into contract with the Norwegian government for the oil exploration of  the annexed part.
