Follow @Medeshi  – Hargeisa 3 May 2014 – News coming from Somaliland indicates that  a fire that broke-out at Kaah Business center today in Hargeisa reduced the business into ashes without fire rescue team arriving  at the scene  and with owners and civilians watching it helplessly.

Three persons are reported to have sustained injuries with cars parked close to the business burned.
Somaliland capital does not have emergency fire services that can be called immediately to fight fire emergencies in this city of more than 1.2 million inhabitants. There are many high  rise business  buildings and hotels that accommodate huge numbers of people that could be at risk of fire but without safety fire protection methods  in place. Today’s incident is among many to come that need to be put into consideration when construction companies implement building business complexes or high rise building in Somaliland .
Much had been spent on politics and power haggling among the ruling party and the opposition parties with little support being given to the tax payers and the public . This is poor fire protection services and broken promises in Somaliland and it is therefore ,  about time that the public takes likes of this government irresponsibility into consideration while voting in the coming 2015 elections.
Somaliland seceded from the rest of Somalia in May 18 1991 after a bloody civil war against the Siyad Barre dictatorship  in which tens of thousands of Somaliland civilians died. The country had two presidential  elections , two parliamentary elections and three municipality elections since its independence .
Somaliland is a democratic government  that has its own flag, currency , national army and national flag . Some diplomatic missions with 11 countries exist in Somaliland but the country has not yet been fully recognised by any country.
