Ocean Somali Community Association and Kayd would like to invite you to a workshop to discuss the next steps following Khat Ban- Khat will become a controlled Class C Controlled Drug on 24th June 2014 and the new policies around FGM – we will discuss both the legal and social impacts that these new developments will have on the Somali community.

The event will welcome Tower Hamlets council, Strategic Manager Violence against women and girls and Metropolitan Police. This discussion will help the Somali community to understand better the changes within the law with regards to Female Genital Mutilation and use of Khat.
The event aims to bring the community together- to discuss will the local authority and the police ways of tackling these harmful practices and to avoid illegality and criminalization of the community.
The event will provide the community with an opportunity to discuss get involved in the campaigns to collectively address the above issues and many more.
