We call the international community to protect Somaliland from civil war eruption

More than twenty years Somaliland was in peace and progress, but it now seems to face very difficult situations. For that reason we are going to convey to the international community that Somaliland has taken a path that could lead to civil war eruption. The below mentioned problems have been created by the government and are now present in Somaliland

1. There is a clear and outright tribalism regardless of the nation, jurisdiction, legality and constitutional laws

3. Tribalism, nepotism, favoritism and tremendous violation of law which reached unacceptable level.

4. Corruption, fraud, theft and looting of public funds and national properties.

5. Fraud and misappropriation of international aids and local sources of income.

6. Pressure, intimidation and imprisonment for illegal detention of politicians and private media

7. Treason on Somaliland’s independence beyond choice of the  people.

8.  Authoritarian, political retaliation and mismanagement

9. Establishing armed clan militia who are feared to have committed genocide because of power abuse

10. Hinder free and fair democratic elections to be held on their pre-determined time frame.

These factors and others are enough to create political dispute that could lead Somaliland to unpredictable situation. On behalf of the civil society, I call the international community, United Nations, Security Council, the African Union and anyone interested in Somaliland to send fact finding delegation that track and investigate the real conditions in Somaliland today.

If the international community does not listen to the alarmed call from the civil society, the country will become much worse and will reach the level of impunity that cannot be resolved. Security and stability in Somaliland today relies upon the elections to be held to achieve the targeted change. It is best that the world has open ears to the complaints from opposition parties and civil society for change. The world is expected to participate in the changes expected to result through these elections; this may remove the restrictions against any change in Somaliland. The current regime is now planning to remain on the throne whatever the cost; even if that can lead to a chaos and destruction that cannot be resolved later.
