The negotiations will remain fruitless as long as there is sanctity of unity for Somalia and inevitability of independence for Somaliland.
More than two decades Somalia has been dreaming the lost unity to be restored again. This hope seemingly impossible and looks like the crying over spilled milk because the steadfast people of Somaliland are willing to move forward to join the international community as an independent state. Four years of negotiations passed through without any meaningful results but wasteful of time and money. These negotiations will remain fruitless as long as there is sanctity of unity for Somalia and inevitability of independence for Somaliland. These negotiations will have no avail as long as Somaliland is repeatedly claiming that the responsibility of the massacre committed against its people rests with Somalia and in contrast, Somalia negates any kind of genocide happened in Somaliland claiming that everything went in the civil war without discrimination; this is the biggest stumbling block in the negotiations. Therefore, these negotiations are now creeping into impasse and potentially on the verge of collapse. Since these negotiations have taken no steps toward Somaliland dreams of recognition, the delegate of Somaliland in the negotiation have to withdraw from it. The people of Somaliland have already known that the members of Somaliland delegate who assigned themselves for the negotiation are chasing their own interest rather than the nation’s ambition of striving to international recognition. Therefore, these unbalanced delegate from Somaliland cannot represent for Somaliland nation, they represent only for themselves as they tend to their own interest. The world has to know that Somaliland people are not ready to supplicate anyone for their independence and the people who overthrown the military regime of siyad barre, can bring now the recognition without Somalia. The people’s bloody struggle for independence will not go in vain and they are ready to wage a relentless war against Somalia if it doesn’t desist from the denying the Somaliland sovereignty.
